to the Lee & Ted Jacobsen Family History Web site!

My brother "Ted" and "I" have spent a number of hours sorting through many boxes of documents and photos, we have many yet to look through. We will keep digging and the pages will keep changing. Visit often!

The three main families here are BOISSEAU / GRANT / JACOBSEN, there are many other connecting surnames including, Baker,  Boone,  Bryan, Coleman, Dupre, Field, Garnett, Goodwyn, Hardaway, Hobusch, Jones, Mallory, Man, Manson, Morgan, Moseby, Pegram, Prest, Ragsdale, Rivers, Rives, Ryves, Scott, Stockton, Strange, Thweatt, Torborne, Van Loan, Vaughan, Willis, Wood, Young,  Zander and many others.

I have been fortunate inheriting good family records and even some photos from the mid to late 1800's of Boisseau and Grant ancestors. I hope that my Great Aunt, Nettie Poythress Boisseau who I never met looks down from wherever she might be and enjoys that I am attempting to continue her genealogical research. I inherited her research papers on the Boisseau side of the family and through her information and the use of computer technology have found living distant cousins of the Boisseau line that have confirmed and contributed immensely to my search and hers. Living cousins Andrew, Irene, Beth and Michelle are especially thanked and I will include links to them when they approve. Photo is Nettie Poythress Boisseau about 1890.

The same sentiments of the above paragraph go to James Francis Grant who was born in 1843 and was my half first cousin 3 times removed. He hand wrote a genealogy of the Grant family in 1902. I have the original which I received from my mother by way of my Grandfather Robert Lee Grant who was the half first cousin once removed of James Francis Grant. My Great Grandfather Dr. Robert Lee Grant was J. Frank Grants half first cousin. How J. Franks hand written book became the property of my grandfathers is a mystery. I have not yet found a living relative of his, when I do they will very likely be given the original book. Photo is my Grandfather Midshipman Robert Lee Grant at the Naval Academy in 1919, unknown lady friend.

At the end of 1998 I knew very little of my Jacobsen ancestry. It is now mid 1999 and thanks to luck, computers and finding a few Lutheran Reverends who turned out to be direct descendants of my Great Grandfather, who left Germany for Australia and New Zealand in 1860. He was a Missionary for the Hermannburg mission society. I now know his name "Peter George Jacobsen" and much more. A special thanks to Reverend Frank Jacobsen, my new found first cousin once removed. Thanks also to his father Reverend George C. Jacobsen (deceased) who was the brother of my Grandfather Ernest A. Jacobsen, both sons of Reverend Peter. A very special thanks to a young lady in Christchurch, New Zealand who via e-mail helped me find very accurate sources there "Gretta". Photo is my Dad, Henry E. Jacobsen and Grandma "Jake" his mother Elizabeth Wilhelmina Zander Jacobsen who was born in Stettlin Germany 1882.
